What is judo?

Judo ("the gentle way") is a martial art that aims to incapacitate your opponent, without harming them. More importantly, technique is more important than strength so everyone can practise judo!

Trainings

At Yoroshi we have people of all levels training with us, so it doesn't matter if you have never done any martial art before or are a seasoned judoka, you are welcome to train with us.

We offer two hours of training, the first hour is the ticket hour. This hour is open for everyone with an X membership and here we do more basic techniques. This hour is good to join if you are a beginner or have had a long break from judo and want to get back on your game.

The second hour is the member hour. As the name suggests this hour is reserved for members of Yoroshi. During this hour (or rather 1,5 hour) we practise more advanced techniques and we reserve more time to do randori (sparring). As a beginner you are more than welcome to join this training as well after your first few trainings, you will learn much faster training with more experienced people!

Tournaments

During the year Yoroshi hosts at least two tournaments for Judo, both in Tachi-Waza (stand up) and in Ne-Waza (groundfighting). Furthermore we usually participate in the Dutch student championships or other tournaments members are willing to attend.

Belt exams

At Yoroshi we have belt exams twice a year. During the year we practise techniques for these exams to make sure you are ready when the time comes.
